Come to CSA’s first- ever New Year, New Love speed-dating event, celebrating the fateful coinciding of this year’s Valentine’s Day and Lunar New Year! It’s the perfect opportunity to start the new year off with a bang, by meeting new friends and discovering the cultural origins behind the most significant Chinese holiday of the year.
We will be exploring the customs and traditions behind the Lunar New Year, learning about the folktales behind the Chinese zodiac, and the importance behind each zodiac sign. Whether you’re a brave dragon, an eccentric dog, a curious rat, or a popular horse, everyone is welcome to attend! Who knows? Maybe you’ll meet your ideal partner at this special event!
Music, food, and drinks will be provided. A lucky pair will also walk away with a free raffle prize by the end of the night!

We hope to see you there!
No February GBM
There will be NO February general body meeting! Instead, we’ll see you on the first Monday of March for this semester’s family competition!

As the semester is winding down, we’d like to invite you to CSA’s annual semiformal banquet. This year, the event will be centered around Winter Festival, or Dong Zhi (冬至). There will be a dinner and a dance, as per tradition.
Come get dressed up, bring a hot date or go stag, and celebrate the beginning of winter with your CSA friends and family!
The winners of this semester’s family competition will be announced at the dance, and this event is your last chance of the semester to get some extra points in for your family!
Buy tickets from any CSA e-board members, who are admins on the facebook event (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=186116517419&ref=mf) or e-mail us at jet78@cornell.edu OR cornellcsa@gmail.com. Officers will also be selling tickets at RPCC/Appel on Wednesday-Friday nights of this week during dinner.

Thank you families that came to the competition last Monday! For those of you who did not join us for family competition, I must say you missed out on a lot of fun. The families got super competitive in the “egg” (actually ping-pong ball) in spoon race, the human knot, charades, and the CSA Family Newlyweds Game.
The “egg” in spoon was extremely intense and close, and Brandon and Anni’s family ultimately won, with Ivan and Jackie’s family and Joey and Emily’s families close behind. The human knot’s winners, Ivan and Jackie’s family won about ten seconds after we started the game—which is crazy, I know, but it happened! Charades was fun as usual, and e-board tried to make it difficult, but us Cornell students can act anything out, apparently! Brandon and Anni’s family ultimately won charades. We ended the family competition with a test to the bigs, who had to answer a few questions about their littles. Brandon and Anni’s family answered the most questions correctly for this game as well…impressive.
Final results for this semester’s family competition:
1st place Brandon & Anni
2nd place Ivan & Jackie
3rd place Lisa & Dan
Mid-semester points for the top 5 families:
| Brandon & Anni |
65.67 |
| Ivan & Jackie |
52 |
| Lisa & Dan |
36.75 |
| Barnett & Elaine |
31 |
| Emily & Joey |
27 |
The end of first semester is fast approaching!! We will be tallying up the final points for your family at CSA Semi Formal on Dec. 7th. Keep sending pictures to lz234@cornell.edu to get points.
