Basketball and volleyball have been popular among members for decades. In 1978, Cornell hosted the first annual CSA Invitational for basketball and volleyball. Schools from the northeast United States travelled to Ithaca to participate in this event. In 1979, the volleyball team dominated all three divisions of the tournament. Although invitationals are no longer held, CSA continues to participate in intramural basketball and volleyball. It also fields teams for other sports if there is enough interest among members.
