Members of the 2009-2010 Executive Board run the Chinese Students Association. For questions or tickets to upcoming events, see/contact these people!

Board meetings are held every Monday at 5pm (location TBD) and are open to general members.

JANELLE TENG (jet78) — President
English ’11

I’m an English major who loves art, travel, fashion, and funny people. I’ve lived in Hawaii, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Texas, but I’m moving to New York City this semester. Talk to me if you’re interested in Asian American advocacy on campus!

The President holds weekly e-board meetings and implements the policies determined by the executive board during the meetings. She is in charge of delegating responsibilites to all the officers of CSA in addition to coordinating activites between CSA and other organizations, thus serving as the official representative of CSA in its external dealings.

Favorite Part of CSA: I love my awesome CSA family (best bigs everrrr) and our kick-ass lineage SUGAR LOVERS! CSA social events, semi-formals, China Night afterparty, and of course, food!

I like strawberries. I’m a senior ILR student from Flushing, New York. I joined CSA in my freshman year and held e-board positions of freshman liaison and social chair in the past two years. I love CSA because of the people I met through the fun events.

The Vice President is responsible for leading the e-board where the President is not available or unable to do so. She performs the responsibilites delegated to her and oversees and coordinates the other CSA officers. She also maintains the organization’s records of membership.

I am a senior Economics major from a suburb of NYC. I love trying new food, playing squash, singing a cappella with the Hangovers, libraries, snowball fights and being super chill. Hope to meet you at some of our awesome events!

The Treasurer is responsible for keeping an accurate and updated account of finances, supervising the disbursement of the funds, paying bills

incurred by CSA, maintaining a balanced budget and handling other monetary needs.

I’m an AEM major from New Hampshire. I love food, Chinese dance, the New England Patriots, shopping (I’m a pro online shopper), and getting to know new people! I’m very easy to talk to so feel free to come talk to me at any CSA event!

I’m a Sophomore who loves all types of food, music, and dancing. I also enjoy just chilling with my friends. I’m excited to meet more new people this year and catch up with old members. Feel free to talk to me about anything, especially any ideas you have for CSA events or just CSA in general!
The Cultural Chairs are in charge of developing and running cultural events for the organization. Past events include the Moon Festival, Midnight Dim Sum, and China Night.

I’m a premed biology major who loves music, food, philantropy, and just fooling around with friends. I love meeting new people so feel free to talk to me about anything from medical schools to Frank Sinatra’s sultry voice!

The Programming Chair organizes events aimed at the greater Cornell community. Past events include volunteering during Into the Streets and participating in Relay for Life. He or she also coordinates CSA’s intramural sports teams during the school year.

I’m from Flushing, New York. I love being in touch with my heritage, whether through watching a good drama or dancing (someone once told me Chinese dance was my life!). My favorite things are sharing the occasional hearty but awkward laugh with good friends and watching the sky on a clear day. I can’t wait to get to know everyone at CSA, especially the freshmen!

The Public Relations Chair acts as liaison between CSA and other organizations. Externally, she attends weekly CAPSU (Cornell Asian Pacific-Islander Students Union) meetings and is a representative of CSA in coordinating Asia Night. Internally, she organizes the Welcome Picnic and the Big-Little program.

ELAINE QIAN (yq24) — Publicity

I was born in Shanghai and raised in both Ontario and New Jersey. I love music, fashion, and Broadway shows. My hobbies include eating, shopping, dancing, playing volleyball, making lists, and of course, Chinese culture. This is my first year at Cornell and on the CSA e-board, so I look forward to meeting all of you!

The Publicity Chair designs all materials necessary for advertising CSA events. Additionally, he develops CSA membership cards and other paraphernalia for the organization

Hi y’all! I’m a second-semester ILR senior, so before I leave I’d love to get to know you! Yes, Crocs are awesome, and I’ll plan on spreading the craze at all the social events. Come to Semi!
